Welcome back to the Suite Space — a warm room for the real ones, the self-made, the legacy builders, the strong friends who always show up. This is our place to focus on purpose, to give ourselves a permission slip to play, to be “self-ish” (meaning: care for self), and to indulge in a little sista-ship with kinfolk who get it.
The other day, while chatting with my fiancé about our plans, we stumbled into a moment that made me pause: merging two lives — two rhythms, two visions, two sacred spaces — means making room and letting some things go for good. It means surrendering the comfort of clutter, of excess, of "just in case."
And so, as I prepare for my extended stay abroad, I began the process of packing up my apartment — not just with boxes and bubble wrap, but with a soft spirit and open hands.
Because this wasn’t just a move. It was a shedding.
Morning Boxes, Afternoon Lessons
Each morning, I’d wake up early, coffee in hand, sitting in the silence before the day's movement. The apartment felt different — not empty, but honest. In those moments, I found myself reflecting on all I’ve been curating lately inside the Dreamcatchers Library — experiences, not things.
Not more “stuff.”
But space for more self.
And in the mid-afternoons, as I wrapped items in newspaper and sorted what to keep, sell, or donate, I realized something so simple it felt like a prayer: We probably all have more than we need.
So Why Do We Hold On?
Online, I see it daily — women yearning for more.
More love.
More rest.
More softness.
More health.
More space to be fully seen.
And yet, we struggle to tune into our desires.
Why is that?
Is it the noise?
The pressure?
The performance of “having it together”?
Is it because we’ve been so trained to be everything to everyone that we forget to ask ourselves what we want?
Suite-sista, I’m asking because I’ve lived that. I’ve looked around at shelves and drawers and digital folders full of things I thought would define me — only to realize they were blocking the blessing.
My Queen Code: Substance Over Shiny
As I donated bags of clothes, books, and once-loved things, I made a quiet vow: to be more strategic in my accumulation- to always veer towards substance, not shiny as a practice.
To choose experiences over objects.
To let stillness be my status symbol.
To make space for purpose, not just Pinterest boards.
Because at the end of the day, what we remember — what changes us — is never the handbag or the shoes.
It’s the moment we said yes to the unfamiliar.
It’s the day we stood barefoot in another country’s soil and exhaled.
It’s the healing conversation, the soft smile, the clarity that came at 2AM when we finally let go.
So Here’s My Question to You:
What are you holding on to that’s quietly asking to be released?
What would shift in your life if you chose desire over default?
And what if the reset you’ve been craving isn’t in your next purchase… but in your next pause?
Let’s talk about it.
Who loves you?
Me.
